Post Surgical Garments

Most post-surgical garments are designed to be used immediately after breast or any chest related surgery such as a mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction, or augmentation and typically include two fiberfill leisure forms.

These garments feature security, a restored silhouette, comfort, and drainage management. Most camisoles are designed to step in and pull on to prevent over the head arm movement which can typically cause pain immediately after surgery.

Jay Ann Shop will fit you and provide the best option for your recovery.

Custom Breast Prosthesis

IS THE CUSTOM BREAST PROSTHESIS FOR YOU? There are a variety of options for women after breast surgery. The choice to move forward on your journey with a custom breast prosthesis may be the best option for you. Ask Your Fitter Your fitter will present the benefits of a Custom Breast Prosthesis to help you decide if it’s right for you. During your pre-scanning consultation, your fitter will present and review a set of expectations, show you color options, discuss payment options, and detail the scanning process. This will give you an idea of what to expect from your new prosthesis, and the scanning process. Personal Scan Session On the day of your personal scan session, your fitter will review the scanning process and take a series of reference pictures and scans of your torso using a state-of-the-art, iPad-based, 3D scanner. After your personal scan session, your files will be securely transmitted to the Custom Design team at our vendor. The team of dedicated breast form designers will use proprietary CAD-based engineering to create a custom breast prosthesis to your exact specifications. Final Appointment You will initially be fit in the bra in which you were scanned, and your prosthesis will fit to your unique contours. Moving forward, feel free to try different bras. You may find different bra styles complement your new custom breast prosthesis!

Breast Prosthesis

Some forms have "nipples" and others are completely smooth. There are even forms available for active sports, including swimming. What you decide to get will largely depend on your lifestyle and personal preferences. In addition to a full breast prosthesis, we also have a large selection of partial breast prosthesis, which help to fill out your bra on your surgery side if you've had a lumpectomy or partial mastectomy and can also be used after uneven reconstruction . "Partials or shapers" are made of silicone, foam rubber, or fiberfill. A partial breast prosthesis can be tucked into your regular bra or into the pocket of a mastectomy bra.

Mastectomy Bras

A mastectomy bra is specially designed for women who have undergone a mastectomy, or a lumpectomy and can be worn with breast prostheses. Post surgical bras are made with specially designed discreet pockets inside the cups. A quality mastectomy bra is more than just a traditional bra with added pockets. A mastectomy bra should offer enough coverage to secure your breast form and lightweight support. Because of their amazing comfort, women who have not had breast surgery but who are uncomfortable in regular bras should consider mastectomy styles. These bras also work well if you have naturally uneven breasts and would like to wear a prosthesis or padding on one side. Mastectomy bras are manufactured with pockets in both cups. Any woman can wear a pocketed/mastectomy bra — she doesn’t have to have had breast surgery to benefit from the bra as the comfort features have a universal appeal: * No underwire: Soft-cup, or wire-free bras, don’t have any underwire. The myth about underwire bras and cancer has been widely discredited, but some wires can irritate scar tissue or sensitive skin after surgery. * Padded cups: In addition to the pockets, some bra cups include light padding that can create a smooth look, which can be of particular benefit where there may be uneven tissue remaining after surgery. * Center Front and Under Band: Stability features like the center front and wide under band help the bra stay in place, and can cover scar tissue. * Supportive side seams: Wider side seams under the arms can help hide scar tissue, and add support to the bra all the way around. * Comfortable straps: Wider, padded shoulder straps are more comfortable for most women, and many mastectomy bras feature them. Choosing the right bra can make all the difference in how your breast form feels.

Lumpectomy and Breast Shapers

"Are balancing shapers and breast prosthesis only for women who have had a mastectomy?" The answer is "No!" In fact, women who have had a lumpectomy or partial mastectomy, also known as breast-conserving surgery (BCS) are eligible to a partial prosthesis. The same sometimes applies to women who naturally have different size breasts and struggle with asymmetry. If it’s bothersome enough that your clothes fit uncomfortably, a partial breast shaper might be just what you need. Balance breast shapers are designed specifically to fill, cover and conceal almost any breast asymmetry created by surgery or radiation. They can also balance naturally uneven breasts. Our bra inserts come in a variety of shapes, sizes and thicknesses, to fit you personally and accommodate your unique needs. In the United States, Medicare and most private insurance should cover partial breast forms with a doctor’s prescription, at a rate of one every two years. Your fitter will guide you to finding just the right solution for your needs. A partial shaper can give you the smooth silhouette you want to see in the mirror, and body confidence every day.

Reconstruction

The Jay Ann Shop has a variety of options for those who are going through reconstruction. During the tissue expansion process there might be a need to enhance your shape and achieve symmetry. With an adjustable breast enhancer, the volume can be adjusted to match a women's existing breast or desired size by adding or removing fiberfill. There are a variety of other balancers and small forms that can be used, once the process is complete to provide additional lift to achieve symmetry. Once reconstruction has been completed, Jay Ann Intimates is able to fit you with a variety of pocketed and non-pocketed bras depending upon your needs.

Nipples

The Jay Ann Shop can help you preserve your nipple, prior to breast surgery, so you can recreate "your" custom nipple post surgery. This is also available, through insurance, for those who have had breast reconstruction.
